Top 10 Tips
You learn things on the journey right? Hopefully after more than 20
years in leadership I have learnt something, though I sometimes wonder!
A few years ago a Christian leader gave me a list of the 10 things that
mattered most to him in life. These were the things that had kept him
going and kept him being fruitful through the good times and the tough
times. It was so helpful, that I kept a copy of his top 10 in my Bible
for a number of years.
Recently, I was wondering how to encourage some younger missionary leaders here in Sheffield and a group of Pentecostal evangelists, so I decided to write my own 'Top 10'.
I hope it's a blessing to you, and in the very least, may I encourage you to identify and live by your own 'Top 10'.

The Tsunami disaster of Christmas 2004 produced an unprecedented wave of compassion and action from people in the UK.
We should not be surprised though. It is the ways that God has made us. In the face of desperate need, humanity can rise to its greatest heights. Jesus said it is better to give than to receive.
Martin gives a passionate call for involvement and connection amoung the world’s poor, particularly reflecting on a recent visit to Rwanda and the involvement of FreeSpirit in partnership with the RSVP trust…. and its not just a one-way street. The result is we are learning from Rwandans just how to be over-comers.

Overcoming Obstacle to Outreach

This 2-part session was given to leaders from around the world at St. Thomas visitors week.
Drawing on his 4-year experience of equipping the church in Sheffield and 20 years of pioneering ministry, this talk cannot fail to help in encouraging the witness of ordinate people trying to follow Jesus.

Learning Together
In our multi-racial, and multi cultural communities it is vital to learn to communicate what a follower of Jesus is about in language that people can understand.
Muslims have much to teach us about family values. Muslims have had the person of Jesus often misrepresented to them. The Quran commends Muslims to read the Injils (Gospels).
This short talk is spoken directly to Muslim people to help explain something of Jesus in a way that takes account of their culture and the failings of Christians in the past.

People put labels on us don't they?

It's like they want to stick us with labels.
Or, they want to put us in a box, of the way that they think we are.
